ABOUT PAPER PAPER

Paper Paper is an independent art book fair in its first year, organized by artists and held in an independent art space in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The fair brings together contemporary artists, small presses, and independent publishers working in printed and bound formats.

Paper Paper was created to offer a springtime opportunity for artists, small indie presses, and collaborative ventures to share work, connect with new audiences, and support their creative practices during a quieter moment in the art book fair calendar.

This fair isn’t intended to function as a zine fest, a general book publishing event, or a book-arts fair focused on craft alone. It’s oriented toward conceptual art, small run projects, design, and experimental printed and bound formats. It’s a place for artists and small press ventures to trade, share, and sell their work, and to expand meaningful networks within the creative underground.

FEE STRUCTURE

Application Fee: $10
Fee to Register if accepted: $75

Application and registration fees help cover upfront costs including rental and administration, so the fair can remain artist-run and fairly compensate labor.

These fees are informed by experience tabling at artist-run fairs in the US and Canada.

The registration fee is only required if your application is accepted; it is separate from the application fee.

Tables and chairs are provided. Tables are 6’ long.

Some reduced application fees are available for applicants facing financial hardship. Please reach out via email.

The fee was lowered on January 26. Applicants who paid a higher fee prior to this will receive a separate link to register if accepted.

If you need to reach out, please communicate thoughtfully and in good faith — this fair is largely organized by one self-employed artist.
